So why do I paint and what are my paintings about?

Ultimately painting to me is a very personal and deep eploration that is influenced by many different things including my family and my life experiences. From another perspective, it is about the process itself. As a painter I try to let the tactile quality of the paint, the color, perspective, movement, and forms do the talking. I am also exploring the relationship between digital imagery and physical paint itself. I don’t give titles to my work as often times it leads people to see things based on what it is called. I have however, organized my paintings into main categories:

Originals

The players: acrylic paint, canvas or board, and occasionally digital imagery transferred directly on canvas. Working directly with paint on canvas or board is the “purest” environment for me to let the paint, what I am feeling, and the influence of music come together. Check out my originals >

Remixes

The players: Scanned portions of original paintings and hand drawn/design elements, Adobe PhotoShop & Illustrator. These pieces are created in a more controlled process including graphical elements, 3-dimensional shapes, lines, hand drawings, simulated textures, and painting scans that are “remixed” in PhotoShop and Illustrator. The final output is printed and stretched on canvas to bring the piece back into the physical world. Check out my remixes >
